    Swanson enters the seasoning category, introducing the brand new product Swanson Concentrated Chicken Stock
  • 2004

    Campbell Soup Company celebrated its 50th year of listing on the New York Stock Exchange. Campbell Kids turned 100 years old.
  • 2002

    SELECT soup, a range of soup that do not need to add water, is introduced to Hong Kong market. The idea of putting SELECT into microwave and heat up for instant consumption makes it easy for busy Hong Kong people to enjoy convenient and chunky soup anytime. Later SELECT is transformed into current packaging.
  • 1998

    Campbell’s Soup Company introduced Campbell’s Soup To Go microwavable soups, which are convenient soups for on-the-go eating. This marked the start of microwavable soups for the Campbell family. Campbell later launched Campbell’s Soup At Hand, Campbell’s Chunky and Select soups in microwavable bowls.

    Swanson® Chicken broth took a lead to change from Can broth to Paper Pack broth. It can be opened easily and more convenience to use.
  • 1994

    Campbell’s celebrated its 125th anniversary and introduced a new red & white label design featuring the product shot. Campbell’s soup remained as a favourite items in the US, with an average of eight cans found in every household.

    Swanson®were introduced to Hong Kong.
  • 1984

    The Campbell Soup Company entered the Hong Kong market in the 1930s and established their office in 1984.
  • 1970

    Campbell’s Chunky ready-to-serve were introduced and marked the begainning of the ready-to-serve soup era.

    The Campbell Museum was opened in Camden as a showcase for the company’s outstanding soup tureen collection.

  • 1962

    Pop artist Andy Warhol painted the first Campbell’s soup cans. The reason for creating this piece was because he used to drink soup, which was his lunch everyday for 20 years.
  • 1957

    New Corporate headquarter opened in Camden, New Jersey. The company established the International Division which began to sell products to European countries.
  • 1904

    The Campbell Kids were “born” when a Philadelphia illustrator named Grace Wiederseim sketched them for a series of streetcar advertisements. They were destined to become hugely popular which had been used in postcards, lapel buttons and various products.
  • 1900

    Campbell’s® soups won the Gold Medallion for excellence at the Paris Exposition. The Medallion has been featured on labels ever since. In this year, Dr. John Dorrance was elected to be the Director and Vice President of the company.
  • 1899

    Though advertising was still relatively rare in the US, John Dorrance attempted to take the challenge and placed the first advertising on New York City streetcars. This impressive promotion had increased the sales in New York by 100%! The first ads included a jingle promoting soup and a large illustration of a red-and-white can of Campbell’s soup.
  • 1898

    The company executive attended the annual Cornell vs Pennsylvania football game and was attracted by Cornell’s brilliant new red and white uniforms. He then convinced the Company to use the colors on the labels, which turned to the most successful promotional decision Campbell has ever made.
  • 1897

    Arthur Dorrance, the President of the company at that time, reluctantly agreed to hire his 24-year-old nephew, Dr. John T. Dorrance, as a company chemist at a toekn wage of just $7.5 a week, using his own laboratory equipment. In the same year, Dr. Dorrance developed the formula for commercially condensed soups.

    Dr. Dorrance found that he must induce the public to have soup and convince buyers that this inexpensive, condensed soup was also high quality, so he took to the road offering tastes.

  • 1891

    The company’s name changed to Joseph Campbell Preserve Company and was incorporated in New Jersey ten years later. Their best-known product was “Beefsteak Ketchup”, a sauce far different from what we call ketchup today.
  • 1869

    Joseph Campbell, a fruit merchant, and Abraham Anderson, a tin ice box manufacturer, formed a partnership to can tomatoes, vegetables, jellies, condiments, and minced meats in Camden, New Jersey.
